An end customer of Easy Systems, one of the largest importers of general sports brands in the Benelux, moved to a new distribution center that was three times the size.
This, in combination with a sales strategy of ordering before 4 p.m. and delivery the next day, presented them with an immense challenge. Because of this growth, Easy Systems was called in to optimize the picking process and minimize the walking distances for the order pickers. A process has been developed to process both low and high volumes within the shortest possible time.
The system consists of two levels, the top level of which is output. The bottom level is the return of empty bins, back to the starting point. The distribution center is divided into 5 halls, of which halls 1, 2 and 3 are part of 2 picking stations. Hall 4 has 6 picking stations and in hall 5 all goods come together and are finally sorted for delivery via e-commerce.
